Making A Smockery: Outfit

Evenin' Loves!

It was casual dress at work today so instead of throwing on my jeggings and a sweatshirt I thought I'd give my new Evans Check Smock Tunic an outing.

I picked it up last week amongst lots of other goodies in an effort to treat myself for getting through a particularly rubbish time (which I won't bore you all with on here). When it first arrived and I tried it on and wasn't sure about it. You know me, I'm a lover of ultra girly, pretty, fitted shapes so when I pulled on this oversized, slightly boxy number I kinda looked at it and felt off centre (I ordered a UK size 30-32). I left it aside for a few days thinking I was going to take it back and exchange it for a smaller size to see if I'd get a more fitted shape that I'd like, however instead I decided to take to Twitter for opinions.

One of my favourite Tweeters, Mel replied with some words and an idea that I thought I needed to get on board with...

'@Naomi_Griffiths I'm such a big fan of smocks! Think it challenges the idea that fitted is best! Plus they're just really comfy!'

So, with Mel's words in my ear (thanks Mel!) I threw it on and headed out in the lovely sunshine all swingy in my smock with a spring in my step. Verdict? I'm a convert! It's just like how I thought I'd never get on board with the whole swing dress thing last year when they popped up everywhere in fear that they'd make me look all masculine and odd shaped.

I opted for a bit of a tough, grungy look with my cut out boots and denim jacket and I had so many compliments at work on it...

Black Leggings - Evans
Denim Jacket - Castaluna (old)
Silver Pendant - Dorothy Perkins (old)
Cut Out Boots - Internacionale

I really like the subtle definition the smocked waist gives without it being too fitted and clingy and I also really like the length how it hits mid thigh for VBO coverage like an oversized t-shirt with a bit more shape too it. On this warm spring day it was really cool and easy to wear but still really on trend. Yeh, I'm definitely feeling the smock and reckon you'll be seeing me in a few more in the future! Oh and these boots from Internacionale? I've been asked so much about them and  I can't even tell you how utterly comfortable they are!!!! I can't believe Internacionale has gone into administration and if you've got one near you that's still open and getting rid of their stock I urge you to pop in and grab yourself a bargain or two! I had these boots for £20!

Right I'm off to eat icecream. I'm massively busy over the next week so may be a bit quiet but I'll have loads of stuff to update you on. I've got a week off work and I'm so excited to be getting involved with blogger stuff, letting my hair down at Club Indulge on Saturday night and also going to the Hamburger Queen 2014 final!!!

BIG LOVE
XOXOXOX
